Prerequisite: Completed Step 1: Initial Onboarding and received an email with a unique link and invitation ID.
Note: If you are a provider who already completed registration for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) in the past, you may skip identity proofing and EPCS registration and move to the last step, called Logical Access Control (LAC).
Before You Start
- Ensure that security freezes are lifted from your credit file to avoid delays in registration.
- Ensure you received an email for identity proofing, containing a link and unique invitation ID. Otherwise, select Resend IDP Invite to resend the email.
Identity Proofing (IDP)
1. Click the link on the email you received to begin identity proofing (IDP); NPI # and Invite ID fields should pre-populate for you automatically.
2. If the invite ID does not auto-populate from the email, enter it along with NPI number.
3. Accept the terms of use.
4. Complete the required demographic data.
- You may have to wait up to 7 business days for a required verification code to arrive by mail.
- If you provide a business address or PO box instead of your home address your information may not get validated. Tip: Update your credit profile's address information before starting.
5. If your demographic information does not get verified immediately, you may need to complete credit-related questions.
6. Next, you will be prompted to use your device’s camera to take and upload photos of your:
- identification (driver’s license, ID card, or passport)
- face (without glasses)
This is to comply with Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2) federal security standards for identity proofing completed from a remote setting.
7. You will get a screen confirming that you completed identity proofing and move on to EPCS registration.
8. Select Add New Token to move on to Step 3: EPCS Registration, where you will associate two-factor authentication to your account.
