Before trading in your current smartphone or tablet with your soft token (app), please associate a second token to your account, so you don't have to repeat the identity proofing process.
Note: We recommend always associating two tokens to your account for the electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS).
This article explains how to register a new soft token for users getting a new phone who went through identity proofing with Experian. You must already have a valid token to access Token Management.
When you get a new device:
1. Make sure you have your old phone with your soft token with you.
- Submit a request for Support or contact your administrator if you do not have your old phone or a second token already associated with your account.
2. Download Symantec's VIP Access app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your new device.
3. Go to https://ui.epcsdrfirst.com/pob/login
4. Log in with your NPI number and passphrase (controlled substance password).
5. Select any of your active tokens from the token drop-down menu.
6. Enter the one-time pin (OTP) generated from that token (6-digit security code from that token).
- If you are using Symantec's VIP Access soft token (app), the OTP is the security code that changes every 30 seconds.
- If you are using a hard token (OneSpan or Symantec), the OTP is displayed once you click the button on the front of the device
7. Once you are fully logged in, click the Tokens tab or click the Manage Tokens link.
8. You will be redirected to a page where you will see an orange Add New Token button.
9. You can now add a new token hard token (physical device) or soft token (app). Use the OTP from your old token to add the new token.
10. Disable your old phone by following the directions outlined below:
-
- Locate your old device on the table.
- Select Disable in the Action column.
- Select the Reason for disabling the token.
- Select Disable.
- Your old token is now disabled.
