Administrators are responsible for authorizing providers for the electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS). This step is called Logical Access Control (LAC) and must be completed before providers can prescribe XYWAV® and XYREM®.
Administrators are only able to authorize EPCS if the provider successfully:
- completed identity proofing with Experian
- registered two tokens (also called authenticators, fob) for two-factor authentication
To complete LAC, follow email instructions (email generated by providers when they reach the end of the identity proofing and EPCS registration process):
1. Select the link in the email
2. Enter your token number (no spaces).
3. Accept the terms of use.
4. Go to the main ("hamburger") menu on the top left corner and select Utilities.
5. Select Logical Access Control (LAC)
6. Find the provider by name and NPI number.
7. Select the Active radio button to indicate the provider will be authorized for EPCS.
8. Enter your name, which acts as an e-signature to confirm.
9. Enter the provider’s NPI number and click Validate.
10. The administrator will work with the requesting prescriber or another practice prescriber so they can fill out two-factor authentication on the screen.
